Tuesday’s meeting held at Wiens Family Cellars was a beautiful reminder that fall is upon us. It was just the right amount of chilly outside and the ballroom was decked out in warm orange, maroon and burgundy tones.
Upon entering the venue, we were greeted with an outdoor reception which included a variety of Wiens’ bubblies (I personally love the Sang De L’Orange – a sparkling sangria with a hint of orange), a craft beer selection from their brewery and a large and tasty cheese and meat board. Yum!
After an hour of friendly networking we moved indoors to the ballroom that felt extra cozy and welcoming with warm burnt orange up-lighting provided by Sterling Productions, exquisite one-of-a-kind textured table linens by BBJ Linens and tall clear vases with a floating candle votive atop textured greens. The tables also included a beautiful plating setup and menu cards with gold geometric shapes, green flourishes and a sans serif font.
The dinner, provided by Vineyard Gourmet Catering, included a variety of buffet stations with a fall themed menu. Meal options included: tomato or potato soup, chicken or beef carving station, sautéed vegetables, macaroni and cheese and a variety of tasty breads. For dessert, Nothing Bundt Cakes Temecula provided a selection of their bundtinis. A perfect ending to a meal.
The curriculum for the evening titled “Exposure and Protection for Event Professionals” was a very content rich discussion on how to properly insure your company and assets and also about how to have iron-clad contracts to keep you, your company and team members safe. As creative professionals, we sometimes overlook or push important legal processes to the side (because we would much rather design an event, snap photos, or create gorgeous floral arrangements of course!) and this was a great reminder to review current contracts we have in place and to reach out to our insurance agents to make sure we have the best possible coverage. Of course, we never want to think something will go wrong with a client or that an accident will happen, but if and when it does, it is important that we protect our business and assets so it doesn’t cause a huge deficit to our company and the work we do.
