The weather feels like it might finally start to cool down and it was just in time for Tuesday’s networking meeting held at Lorimar Winery.
The evening began with a warm welcome from fellow members and upon check-in we were each handed a glass of brut champagne with a tasty nutmeg sugar rim (compliments of Blush BarCrafts)…which was a perfect reminder that fall is near.
Both Tina and Joelle Lorimar’s dynamic wedding team, went above and beyond in hosting this event for the winery as the evening started with our usual ‘Golden Hour’ of networking and greeting in the winery tasting room. Tray passed appetizers and of course some of Lorimer’s tastee reds’ only enhanced the relationship building of the over 90 wedding professionals attending.
With our bubbly in hand, we continued on a venue tour as we made our way to the final meeting spot. The designated trail highlighted two different outdoor spaces. The first was the Ceremony Lawn location nestled between the vines and the second was another large outdoor space draped in market lights, a stage and an outdoor bar area where we were able to snag a seat and a few appetizers while we waited for a horse drawn carriage ride to the Barrel Room area.
Upon exiting the carriage, there was an adorable retro photo booth and s’mores setup ready to be sampled and enjoyed courtesy of SmorePlay.
Dinner and wine were served alfresco and included a made-to-order pasta station. Yum! The tables and ambiance were a perfect pairing with a variety of centerpieces tall and short, mood lighting, farmhouse table design and entertainment.
After dinner we were escorted into the Barrel Room for a presentation by Bethel Nathan of Ceremonies by Bethel | Elevate by Bethel on The Superpower of Testimonials & Reviews. This presentation was jammed packed with content. While there isn’t allotment to share a full recap, here are a few key takeaways from the session:
• Testimonials vs. Reviews: Testimonials are what you use for your marketing; reviews are what come from third party sites such as The Knot or Yelp.
• People trust reviews over testimonials because they aren’t filtered.
• Clients are likely to spend 31% more on services if they read a good review
• Having good reviews fends off pricing objections
Want to learn more? Bethel will also be speaking at this year’s Wedding MBA in Las Vegas…will you be attending?
What’s a TVWP meeting without a few winners? Unlike last month’s WMBA ticket give-aways, this month’s Business Showcase welcomed two long standing members; Mike of C-Squared Events & Ryan from The Killer Dueling Pianos who had some great gifts for the lucky winners in the crowd.
Rounding out the evening was our ever-present TVWP business section. TVWP continues to grow has added over a dozen new members this summer which we will recognize at our next meeting. Speaking of which, after a two month summer run, TVWP goes dark for the month of October as we go silent for the trip to Las Vegas and the Wedding MBA convention. TVWP sends anywhere from 25-40 pro’s to this event every year as we support one of our core principles of continuing education. No conflicts here; furthering industry education wins everytime!!!
In closing, here is the list of the member vendors who made this meeting happen at such a high level:

What’s Next: We will be back on November 7th at Wiens Family Cellars for our cleaning of the slate of the 2017 “Shaking It Up!” Agenda.
